Sea Shipping Operation Process
Sea freight involves the transportation of goods by ship, either in containers or bulk, to the intended destination.
It is a logistics method that utilizes ships to transport goods across oceans.
The shipping process can be broken down into the following 9 steps:
1. Consignment:
– The shipper provides details such as container type, capacity, port of destination, shipping time, and product name (required for US line).
– Great Link will then inquire about the packing method from the customer, including factory information and warehouse packing.
2. Booking space:
– Great Link provides cargo information to the shipping company, which then determines the price and books the space. Once booked, the shipping company informs the ship name, shipping date, and booking number.
3. Container loading:
– The warehouse loads the container, and Great Link notifies the warehouse of the ship name and booking number. The shipping company’s container yard is then contacted to pick up the box, and the containers are loaded at the factory according to the shipper’s provided address.
4. Customs declaration:
– Customs declaration is done after loading the container at the port, and then the shipping company loads the container onto the ship.
5. Unloading at the port.
6. Notification for picking up goods:
– The shipping company notifies the consignee to pick up the goods.
7. Customs clearance:
– The consignee completes customs clearance.
8. Bill of lading change.
9. Goods pickup:
– The consignee picks up the goods with the bill of lading.
